NE and E wind at 20 knots for four days, Monday was a mess but the Wrightsville Beach Pro Staff  was out making the best of what the ocean had to offer.  Tuesday, W wind and the Ocean was giving up some squishy gems. Lots of the Wrightsville Beach Loggers were out and getting their game on.  Half way through the falling tide was about as good as it was going to get.  Hope you got some.

D.S.T.

daylight savings at wrightsville beach.  this started friday and lasted through the weekend.
4.5'@15secs.  longer waits but uncw was on spring break so the line up was not crowded.  Saturday morning started out at 37degrees and nobody out.  Al and I had Cstreet to ourselves from 8 til 10.  fingers and feet were mostly numb when we were done.  Masonboro, sunday morning and the crowd was out in full force.  there were some sets breaking out passed the jetty,  a couple guys on longer setups got'em way outside and had some big faces to play on.  meanwhile the rest of us were scrapping it out on the inside for steep drops and trying to out run the close outs.  it is still going today 3.9' at 14secs WB has 10kt NE wind so you know where you should be.  get there if you can. later.

Winter Surfing Wrightsville Beach

Kevin on the Hot Tuna

Ian on the Simulator

Friday was throwing up some waves as the "biggest winter storm ever"  was about to pound the Northeast (biggest since 1978 anyway).  Nonetheless, waves were at Wrightsville Beach for most of the morning and the lineup was semicrowded from Mercers to Crystal Pier.  Turns out, I knew the guy on the yellow stand up board.  Kevin was out test riding Ian Baulding's "Hot Tuna" stand up board and Ian was riding his new "Simulator."  You can check out his stuff at http://ianbalding.com/
Oh, when did we starting name winter storms.  Nemo?  what?  I don't umderstand that at all.

wednesday storm thursday swell

shutting down on some

smaller on others

walls on others

A deadly winter storm swept across the country and pushed some hard wind out of the S on Wednesday gusts upward of 45kts.  Luckily the storm passed offshore with little ill effect on us here in Wilmington.  Thursday morning the wind rolled to the West (at 20 kt) and the temp  dropped down from the upper 70's and was now in the 50's.  Have to say it was a little hard to get motivated.  Checked  a few spots and snapped a few pics at the south end of Wrightsville Beach and settled on Columbia Street for a paddle out.  Now today it is flat again.

forgotten frames

We are stuck in the first artic blast of the season hits Wrightsville Beach .  It dipped to 25 degrees with a 13kt N wind this morning.  The water temp is still hovering at 50 and no waves to speak of.  I decided to change up the title, not sure if i like it but it will stay for now.  Also threw up a couple frames that somehow never made it off the card.  These are back from October.  AR how bouts some more tropic pics.  hugh said, "what up?"
